RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Pennington County authorities say three children were hurt and taken to a hospital this morning when a sport utility vehicle crashed into a Rapid City school bus head on.
The sheriff's office says the SUV spun after hitting the stopped bus and struck two children who were crossing the street to get on the bus, injuring them. One child suffered critical injuries but is expected to live. The second suffered less serious injuries.
A student on the bus and the 17-year-old male driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.
Authorities are still investigating what led to the crash. The ages of the children were not immediately available.
