An Arlington man is given five-years in prison for aggravated assault after
attacking a woman at a Brookings bar.
Ferdinand Santiago-Eufraco had another five years suspended on several
conditions, including that he pay fines and court costs of $500 and
restitution to the victim of $420 for her medical bills. He had also been
charged with attempted rape but that was dropped as part of a plea deal.
Last December, the 22-year-old Santiago-Eufraco followed a woman into the
restroom at the 9 Bar, hit her in the head with a beer bottle, and pulled her into
a bathroom stall. The woman resisted and fought back and was struck several
times with the bottle. She continued to struggle, was able to get the bottle away
from Santiago-Eufraco and threw it at him. He then fled the scene and was
arrested after an investigation.
