DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say a wildfire in the Black Hills was fully contained in a few hours despite adverse conditions.
The so-called Skateboard Fire outside of Deadwood was put out Monday night after firefighters from 10 different departments responded to the blaze.
Officials say the fire was limited to less than an acre despite the rugged terrain and high winds.
Deadwood volunteer fire department chief Bill Glover says that the fire was caused by a tree falling onto a power line.
Authorities responded Monday afternoon after a report of smoke above the Deadwood skate park.
Glover says his department would normally handle a fire that size on its own, but officials "pushed the panic button" because of the dangerous conditions.
