A Brookings man is facing several charges after some rather bizarre
behavior downtown.

Police received a number of calls shortly after 11:00 o'clock Tuesday
night about a man screaming at people and trying to pick fights.

Officers arrived and found the man standing in the middle of the
intersection at 4th and Main. He was having trouble walking and
when police attempted to escort him out of the street, he tried to run
away. While they were subduing him, the man head-butted one of
the officers. He also repeatedly yelled at and threatened police.

Police took him to the ground and held him until additional officers
arrived and he could be placed under arrest.

The 25-year-old Brookings man was taken to Brookings hospital to
be medically cleared and then was taken to jail.

The man is charged with resisting arrest, assault of a law enforcement
officer, disorderly conduct and two counts of threatening a law
enforcement officer.
