A Brookings man is stabbed in the thigh and slashed on the abdomen during a
Monday night fight.

Lt. Derrick Powers says police were called at about 9:30 p.m. to Casey's on
6th St. for a report of men fighting in the parking lot.

Two men had gotten into an altercation. They initially had both shown knives but
decided to fight without them. At some point, another man grabbed the victim's
knife from the ground and stabbed him in the thigh. The original fighter also
slashed the victim, causing minor wounds to the abdomen.

By the time police arrived, the two suspects had left the area. The victim ID'd the
suspects and the first was arrested at his residence, just a short distance away.
He's a 40-year-old Brookings man. The second suspect, the one who stabbed
the victim in the thigh, was arrested about 12:30 this morning.  He's an
18-year-old Brookings man. Both are charged with aggravated assault.

The victim is 20-years-old and was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital.
