SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - There's been little snow to remove
across much of South Dakota so far this winter, so Department of
Transportation employees are using their time for other projects.
DOT engineer Craig Smith says that workers are spending their
time catching up on things like construction, repairing signs and
clearing brush.
Smith says it's too early to determine if the lack of snow saves
the state any money from its $18 million winter budget. He says any
extra money will go toward maintenance projects waiting to be
finished.
