Centerville teen killed in crash


A Centerville, South Dakota  teen is killed in a three-vehicle crash on Friday 
evening about three miles west of Beresford.

Sixteen-year-old Peter Auch of Centerville, was driving an eastbound car 
on Highway 46. An S-U-V driven by 54-year-old Diane Robertson of Wagner 
was westbound. A third vehicle, a car driven by 18-year-old Dillon Buchanan 
of Irene was westbound behind Robertson's S-U-V. 

Buchanan tried to pass Robertson as Auch's Grand Am was approaching. 
Buchanan swerved left and hit a guardrail cable.  His car then struck Auch's 
vehicle. That collision spun Auch's vehicle into the path of Robertson's S-U-V.

Auch was air-lifted to Avera McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls. He sustained 
fatal injuries. 

Robertson sustained minor injuries during the crash. Buchanan and her
passenger were not wearing seat-belts. Buchanan was treated and released 
from the hospital.  The passenger sustained serious but non-life threatening
