FORT PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A 20-year-old Fort Pierre man has
pleaded guilty to shooting his brother with a rifle in July.
Keenan Cornelison pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in
Stanley County Circuit Court Tuesday as part of a plea bargain.
A controlled substance charge was dismissed.
Stanley County State's Attorney Tom Maher says Cornelison shot
his older brother, 23-year-old Joel Cornelison, in the arm during
an argument on July 12 at their parent's home. Joel Cornelison
drove himself to the hospital after the incident and was treated
and released.
Keenan Cornelison told Judge John Brown that he didn't aim the
gun at his brother. He faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in
prison and a $30,000 fine when he is sentenced Dec. 27.
