Gastineau sentenced for supplying alcohol to teens killed in car crash

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota man accused of buying alcohol for two teenagers who died in a car crash has been sentenced to 180 days in jail.

A judge in Sioux Falls entenced 42-year-old Tyrone Gastineau Wednesday.

Authorities say Gastineau bought liquor for 17-year-old Raphie Phan and 19-year-old Amanda Doty Feb. 16. Phan rolled his car hours later in southwest Sioux Falls and the teenagers died at the scene.

The blood alcohol level of each teen was above the legal limit.

A broken bottle of vodka was found at the scene. Surveillance video from a liquor store showed Gastineau carrying the bottle out the store.

Gastineau earlier pleaded guilty to one count of giving alcohol to a minor and one count of buying alcohol for a minor.
