No City or School Election in Brookings: Doran, Rasmussen and Tschetter will take office unopposed

The April 11th Combined Election of the Brookings City Council and Brookings School Board will not be held.
The are two candidates for the two available City Council seats. The incumbent Brianna Doran filed as did Andrew Rasmussen. They will be sworn into office on May 9th for 3-year terms. Former City Council Member Mike McClemens had filed earlier Friday, but then withdrew his petitions to run.
The lone candidate for the single School Board seat is the incumbent, Wes Tschetter. He’ll be sworn into office at the School Boards first meeting in July for a 3-year term.
Today (Feb. 24) at 5:00 pm was the filing deadline.
