PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - One person is dead in the crash of a single-engine airplane at the Pierre airport.
Airport Manager Mike Isaacs says the crash happened at takeoff about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. He says it doesn't appear that anyone other than the pilot was on board. The pilot was not immediately identified.
The Federal Aviation Administration is sending officials to the scene. The airport remains open.
