PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard is asking people to fly all flags at half-staff in honor of those who were killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
President Barack Obama has designated Wednesday, Sept. 11, as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. The president also has called for the U.S. flag to be displayed at half-staff during the day, and has invited the nation's governors to join in the observance.
Daugaard asks that all flags in South Dakota be flown at half-staff from 8 a.m. until sunset on Wednesday.
