PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A Pierre teenager accused of murder has new attorneys and might get a new trial date.
Seventeen-year-old Braiden McCahren has pleaded not guilty in the December 2012 shooting death of 16-year-old Dalton Williams. McCahren was 16 at the time of the shooting that happened in his home but is being tried in adult court.
Court documents indicate McCahren has two new defense attorneys handling his case because his two former attorneys might be called to testify as witnesses at a motions hearing set for Monday, and possibly at his trial.
McCahren's trial is tentatively scheduled to begin June 2 in the town of Winner, but his new attorneys have asked that the trial and the Monday hearing be delayed.
