Brookings police say a suspect has been identified in the October 27th
dog-kicking incident that severely injured a small dog.

It happened at about 7:30 that evening on the 900 block of Eighth Street.
A group of men were walking by the residence and one of them walked
onto the property and kicked the dog. A resident tried to grab the person,
but he fled on foot.

Police Lt. Derrick Powers says a suspect has been identified and
paperwork has been forwarded to the States Attorney for possible
charges. No other information has been released.

The dog, a 13-year-old Chihuahua, suffered some brain trauma and
seizures and is recovering but still has some problems.
