PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Hundreds are expected to pay their respects today
and tomorrow to former South Dakota Gov. Bill Janklow.
The 72-year-old Janklow, also a former congressman, died Thursday
of cancer. His body arrived in Pierre about 8 p.m. Monday, carried in a
flag-draped coffin into the state's Capitol building.
His body is to lie in state from 7-11 a.m. Tuesday, allowing mourners
to file by. A memorial service is set from 1-1:45 p.m. at the Capitol.
Afterward, a gubernatorial motorcade is to travel the 230 miles from
Pierre to Sioux Falls. Visitation begins at 6 p.m., followed by a prayer
service at 6:30, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The church is also the
site of Wednesday's 10:30 a.m. funeral.
