WOLTERS POW…Once again, South Dakota State’s Nate Wolters is the Summit League men’s basketball Player of the Week.
    Against North Dakota State, Wolters made 14 field goals, most in a Summit League game this season, on 18 attempts while totaling 30 points in 28 minutes. He also added five assists, three steals and three rebounds without committing a turnover.
    In the nationally-televised Sears BracketBuster contest against Buffalo, Wolters scored 22 points while dishing out eight assists and pulling down six rebounds.
    Wolters averaged 26 points, 6.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and two steals in 33.5 minutes per game for the week and recorded a remarkable 6.5 assist/turnover ratio. His five Player of the Week honors in 2011-12, tie him for the second-highest season total on record.

BHS GBB…Brookings and Pierre close out the girls’ basketball regular season Tuesday night in the capital city – you’ll hear the game on KBRK, 1430 AM at 7:00.
    Brookings dropped games last week to Brandon Valley and Sioux Falls Lincoln – head coach Lynn Frederick says it’s a confidence game for both teams.  97625   :20   “ready to play”.
    The game may not mean much for district seeding – Brookings will be the fourth seed in District 1, and Pierre the three seed in District 3.  97626   :09   “think they will”.
    It appears Brookings will open district play at Sioux Falls Roosevelt, with Pierre at Aberdeen Central.

BARNETT ADDITION…The new addition to the Barnett Center on the campus of Northern State University is getting closer to being completed. The new facility includes a large weight room on the second floor and a new wrestling practice room, offices and locker rooms on the first floor. School President Jim Smith was asked how the spaces currently being utilized for those purposes will be converted:  97623   :25   “campus”.
   Smith says the addition will aid in recruiting new students.  97624   :13   “space”.
   Smith anticipates a move into the new addition will start April 1st.

SDSU TENNIS… The South Dakota State women's tennis team avenged its fall loss to North Dakota with a 6-1 win.
    SDSU earned the doubles point, but this time with a three-match sweep. Jenny Blackburne and Brooke Henry teamed up at No. 1 doubles for an impressive 8-4 win. Megan McDougall and Bryna Nasenbeny won 8-6 at No. 2 and Natalia Medina and Bethany Goeden completed the sweep with a 9-8 win at No. 3.
    Blackburne set the tone at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win. Henry followed suit at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-2 win. McDougall, Medina and Anna Botzet each posted straight-set wins at No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, to secure the win for SDSU.
