SDSU FB… South Dakota State scored touchdowns on both of its overtime possessions, including the decisive 2-yard run by Zach Zenner, to defeat Missouri State, 43-36, in a back-and-forth Missouri Valley Football Conference game Saturday afternoon at Plaster Field.
With the double-overtime victory, the Jackrabbits improved to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in league play. Missouri State fell to 1-8 overall, 1-5 in the MVFC. SDSU closes out the home season Nov. 5, hosting Southern Illinois in the 98th Hobo Day. Kickoff is set for 2:05 p.m. at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium.
Dale Moss finished the game with seven catches for a career-high 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Aaron Rollin tallied eight catches for a career-high 163 yards and a score. Austin Sumner, a redshirt freshman, topped the 300-yard mark for the fourth time in five games, tallying 377 yards and four touchdowns in a 20-of-31 performance.
Zenner led the rushing attack with 77 yards on 16 carries. Kool added 10 carries for 46 yards.
Mike Lien led the Jackrabbit defense with a game-high 14 tackles. Ross Shafrath added a career-high 12 stops, with Andy Mink registering 10 tackles.
For Missouri State, Trevor Wooden accounted for 338 yards of total offense, rushing 24 times for 107 yards and tallying 231 through the air on 22-of-31 passing with a career-high four touchdowns. Jermaine Saffold, who set the MSU career receiving yards record in the game, notched seven catches for 74 yards. Caleb Schaffitzel led the Bears with nine tackles.

SUMNER, MOSS HONORED…The South Dakota State connection of Austin Sumner and Dale Moss has been recognized in the weekly awards conducted by the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
Sumner received his second Newcomer of the Week honor this season. In the Jackrabbits' 43-36 double-overtime victory at Missouri State on Oct. 29, Sumner topped the 300-yard mark for the fourth time in five games, throwing for a career-high 377 yards and matching a career best with four touchdowns. Sumner completed 20-of-31 attempts, throwing touchdown passes of 5, 3, 80 and 25 yards. His 377 yards rank fourth-best in a single game by a Jackrabbit quarterback.
A candidate for the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in the Football Championship Subdivision, Sumner also received the weekly award after the Jackrabbits' Oct. 8 victory at Youngstown State.
Moss earned Offensive Player of the Week recognition after catching seven passes for a career-high 178 yards and two touchdowns in the Jackrabbit victory. Moss caught an 80-yard touchdown pass — SDSU's longest play from scrimmage in the Division I era — with 6:20 remaining in regulation that knotted the game at 29-all, and later hauled in a 25-yard touchdown reception on SDSU's first offensive play in the overtime sessions. His 178 receiving yards were the seventh-most in a game by a Jackrabbit receiver.

South Dakota State put four players in double figures in Sunday’s 85-52 exhibition women’s basketball win over Minnesota-Moorhead.
Jennie Sunnaborg led the way with 17 points and six rebounds in eighteen minutes of playing time. Jill Young and Ashley Eide each scored 13 points, and Katie Lingle added ten.
Angie Jetvig scored 23 points to lead Moorhead. Brittany Mayclin had five rebounds.
SDSU shot 38 percentfrom the field, and 38 percent on three-point shots. The Jackrabbits had a 39-38 rebounding edge, and committed just 12 turnovers.
Moorhead shot 36 percent from the floor, but had 33 turnovers.

SDSU VB… Kelli Fiegen finished with 19 kills and Kelly Herrmann tied a career-high with 22 digs, but South Dakota State could not capitalize on those performances to earn a win, as the Jackrabbits fell 23-25, 25-19, 16-25 and 20-25 to North Dakota State Friday.
Fiegen added a match-high four block assists and two solo blocks. Kaitlin Klingemann finished with 10 kills and three service aces for the Jacks in the loss. Shay Birath tied with Herrmann with a match-high 22 digs.
Brynn Joki led the Bison with 14 kills and with 19 digs, while Chrissy Knuth finished with 12 kills and 12 digs.

SDSU SOCCER… The South Dakota State women's soccer team was in control of its own destiny and took advantage of it, beating North Dakota State 3-1...
The win secures the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Summit League Tournament, as SDSU concluded an undefeated conference schedule.
Kelsey Ferguson scored the opening goal, assisted by Megan Kingston. Ferguson opened the second-half scoring, assisted by Darci Miller.
Christa Nyblom scored the final goal, assisted by Abby Jurgens and Steph Peterson.
Kat Donovan had a streak of 832 consecutive scoreless minutes snapped by the Bison.

SUMMIT XC… The South Dakota State men's and women's cross country teams finished 3rd and 4th, respectively, at The Summit League Championships...
On the men's side, Southern Utah ran away with the championship with 48 points. North Dakota State edged out SDSU by five points, scoring 95 to the Jacks 100. UMKC finished in fourth with 110 points, followed closely by South Dakota with 116. Oakland, IUPUI, Western Illinois, Oral Roberts and IPFW closed out the standings.
The Jacks were led by senior Greg Vollmer, who finished in sixth place with a time of 25 minutes and 16.40 seconds.
Freshman Trent Lusignan finished in ninth place with a time of 25:30.20. Junior Jared Ailts finished in 12th place with a time of 25:44.90. Senior Kyle Schmidt was 34th in 26:44.60. Sophomore Kenny Mayer closed out the scoring for SDSU in 39th place with a time of 26:55.10.

On the women's side, North Dakota State edged out Southern Utah for the team title, scoring 64 and 73 points, respectively. UMKC finished in third with 99 points. SDSU finished in fourth place with 116 points. South Dakota finished in fifth by one point at 132, with Oral Roberts in sixth at 133. Oakland, IUPUI, IPFW and Western Illinois closed out the standings.
The Jacks were led by senior Danielle Burke, who finished in 14th place with a time of 22 minutes and 40.67 seconds.
Junior Erin Hargens was 17th in 22:51.12. Junior Tera Potts finished in 20th place with a time of 22:54.82. Junior Danielle McCann finished in 31st place with a time of 23:24.41. Sophomore Laura Wolles closed out the scoring for SDSU in 34th place with a time of 23:28.49.

SDSU SWIM… The South Dakota State men's swimming and diving team beat Western Illinois 217-69 but lost to North Dakota 149-144 in a home double dual on Friday. North Dakota beat Western Illinois, 231-60.
Wil Hogue led the Jackrabbits, winning two individual events and finishing second in two relays. He set a school record in the men's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.43. Hogue also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.88.
Chris Schreier set the pool record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.94. He also won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:52.37.
SDSU finished in first place in four other events. Kyle Ochsner won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:58.08, and he also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:49.61. Phil Albu won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.00. Alex McLain won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.50.
