BHS GYMNASTICS…The first big meet of the gymnastics season takes place Saturday – the Lolly Forseth Invitational at Sioux Falls Lincoln. Competition starts at 11:00am.

LUSIGNAN HONORED…South Dakota State's Trent Lusignan and North Dakota State's Brecca Wahlund were named the 2013 Summit League Cross Country Athletes of the Year.
Lusignan and Wahlund each captured the 2013 Summit League Cross Country individual crowns and garnered their first Athlete of the Year honor.
Lusignan is the second-straight Jackrabbit to earn the men’s award after finishing 12th at the NCAA Championships and collecting All-American honors. His NCAA finish marked the third-best men's finish at the meet in league history as he clocked a time of 30:18.8. One week prior, Lusignan recorded a runner-up finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional (30:30.3), tying the league's highest finish at an NCAA Regional, to earn All-Region honors and qualify for the NCAA.
GATORADE FB…Sioux Falls Lincoln running back Caden Quintanilla has been named the Gatorade Player of the Year in South Dakota.
He ran for 18-hundred-93 yards and 29 touchdowns as the Patriots went 11-0 and won the state 11AAA title. Quintanilla ran for a state championship game record 244 yards and four touchdowns.
USD PROJECT… The South Dakota Board of Regents gave USD the go-ahead this week for a $7 million outdoor soccer and track facility.
USD Athletic Director David Herbster said work could begin in the spring if the university successfully raises enough money.
ORU BACK IN SUMMIT…They’re baaaack.
Oral Roberts University will return as the Summit League’s ninth full-time member July 1, 2014, and all 16 Golden Eagle athletics programs will compete in The Summit League starting with the 2014-15 academic year.
The league’s President’s Council unanimously approved Oral Roberts’ return.
ORU was a member of The Summit League from 1997-2012 and has continued to compete as an affiliate member in men’s soccer each of the past two years. During its 15 years in the league, the Golden Eagles won nine Commissioner Cups, awarded to the league’s top overall athletics program, 91 league championships and 49 regular season crowns.
The ORU men’s basketball program captured three consecutive Summit League Tournament titles from 2006-08 and won or shared six regular season championships. The Golden Eagles won 15 consecutive Summit League women’s golf championships and 15 straight baseball tournament championships.
