VIKINGS IN NORWAY… Some football players and coaches from Augustana College in Sioux Falls are in Norway to teach the game to another culture.
Head Coach Mike Aldrich says players don't always have the chance to study in foreign countries because of the time commitment to practice and games. So Augustana arranged the trip to teach the finer points of American football in a foreign country.
Each of the 16 players and eight coaches are paying the $3,500 fee for the 10-day journey. Some of the players did their own fundraising, and each student-athlete receives one service credit for participating.
Aldrich says Norway was a logical choice considering Augustana's steep Norwegian heritage.
The Augustana contingent will spend two days organizing and running a practice for the Oslo Vikings.
