Brookings fell to Sioux Falls Central 2-1, but defeated Yankton 4-3 on Saturday. Friday, the Bombers defeated Spearfish 5-1.

CHUTES BASEBALL…The Brookings Chutes baseball team placed fourth at the Rochester, Minnesota tournament. They fell to Edina, Minnesota Sunday in the third place game.
NO STURGIS LEGION…The Sturgis American Legion baseball season appears to be over.
Sturgis was unable to field a team Saturday for their games at the Black Hills Classic in Rapid City after three players reportedly quit Friday.
In all, five players have left the team this summer. As a result, it appears the team will have to forfeit the rest of its games this summer.
The Sturgis Post 33 program also has a 16-under youth team but officials say moving eighth- and ninth-graders up to the varsity level at this point of the season wasn’t a feasible option. That younger team will continue playing its games this summer.
SDGA GOLF…The Brookings duo of Hudson Carpenter and Morgan Fitts won the SDGA mixed team championship on Sunday at Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls.
They finished with a 131, which defeated the second-place team of fellow Brookings golfers Lukas Davison and Alli Plath by just one stroke. Carpenter and Fitts led after the first round on Saturday. They shot a 60 and held a six-stroke lead over Davison/Plath. Carpenter/Fitts shot a 71 on Sunday, while Davison/Plath fired a 66 to finish one shot off the lead.
