STATE B AMATEUR…Wynot defeated Alexandria 8-2, winning its first "B" state amateur baseball title in 15 years. Wynot scored all eight of its runs in the eighth and ninth innings to claim the championship.
Wynot (20-11) was led offensively by Kyle Wiepen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Scott Heimes went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in the win. Brett Scherschligt earned the win. Cory Marek took the loss.

STATE A AMATEUR…Renner came through the losers' bracket to defeat Vermillion 11-3 and claim the South Dakota Class A state amateur championship Sunday at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.
Monarchs pitcher Jack VanLeur pitched the final seven innings, giving up only one run on five hits with two strikeouts. Erik DeJong went 4-for-6 with three RBIs.

SDGA SENIORS GOLF…Ron Gates, of Mitchell, won the South Dakota Golf Association Senior Championship on Sunday at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.
Gates had a two-round total of 149 to claim the overall title. Steve Pelzl, of Aberdeen, and Mike Sipe, of Milbank, tied for second with scores of 150. Pat Lockwood of Brookings was fourth at 151.
Derek Bursheim of Flandreau shot 160, with Larry Nelson of Lake Region in at 185. R.E. "Barney" Bernards, also out of Lake Region, shot 190.

SDSU SOCCER…Kansas scored three goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation to down South Dakota State in their women's soccer exhibition match Friday.
After a brief intermission at the 75th minute, Taylor Estrada found Ali Kimura running uncovered through the box to put Kansas on the board.
Eli Mayr made it a two-goal game at 78:33, taking a cross from Kimura and scoring. After the coaches elected to play an additional 15 minutes, Ashley Williams tapped home a rebound to make it a 3-0 final.
SDSU and Kansas each recorded 16 shots. Kansas held a 5-0 lead in shots on goal. Inskeep and Stamatakis each made a save. Nicole Hatcher led SDSU with five shots.
The Jackrabbits return to action Friday, Aug. 22 at Fishback Park when they take on Creighton to open the regular season.

 
SDSU WRESTLING…The South Dakota State wrestling team has nine home dates on its 2014-15 schedule. This season's schedule includes four tournaments, along with the NCAA West Regional/WWC Championships and the NCAA Championships.
The Jacks will once again make their season debut by hosting the 22nd Annual Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open on Nov. 2.
SDSU will then hit the road for the Bison Open Nov. 8, along with duals at Oklahoma State and Drexel on Nov. 15 and 22, respectively. SDSU will complete its East Coast swing with the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia on Nov. 23.
The Jacks will return home to close out November by hosting Wisconsin. This will mark the Badgers first-ever trip to Brookings.
SDSU and Augustana will once again wrestle at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls on Dec. 7 followed by the second-annual Battle for the Border Bell at North Dakota State on Dec. 14.
The Jackrabbits will then travel to Columbia, Mo., for to battle Missouri, Kent State and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville before closing out December at Midlands in Evanston, Ill.
SDSU will open 2015 with four home dates. The Jacks will welcome Buffalo and Dakota Wesleyan on Jan. 11 and Boise State on Jan. 16. SDSU will open Western Wrestling Conference action against Northern Colorado on Jan. 18, before hosting a triangular against Cal Poly and Oregon State on Jan. 25.
The Jacks will hit the road for a pair of WWC duals at Wyoming and at Air Force on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, respectively. SDSU will close out the regular season at home against Utah Valley, Stanford and NDSU.
