Baseball:  State “B” Amateur Tourney @ Cadwell Park, Mitchell

STATE “B” AMATEUR…Randy Thygeson had five hits as Larchwood eliminated Crofton 10-0 Monday at the state “B” amateur baseball tourney in Mitchell.
    Lennox capitalized on Salem errors to post a 3-1 win over the Cubs in the other “B” game played Monday.

SDSU TENNIS SIGNEES…The South Dakota State men's tennis team and head coach Michael Engdahl added six student-athletes to its 2012-13 roster. SDSU makes the announcement on the heels of the women's tennis team adding three for the upcoming season.
   Luke Elifson, Andrea Boglic’, Lucas Pereira, Henrique Pereira, Mateus Moreira and Luis Duque join the team from all over the world and increase the roster size from four to 10.

JAMESTOWN COACH…Northern State men's basketball assistant coach Justin Wieck has been named the Jamestown College men's basketball coach. Wieck was formally introduced as the Jimmies' head coach at a press conference on the Jamestown campus.
   Previous to Northern State, Wieck spent four years on staff at the University of Iowa as head video coordinator, working under head coaches Steve Alford and Todd Lickliter.

NDSU FB…North Dakota State looks to defend its Missouri Valley, and national, football titles this fall.
   The Bison had several young players on the field, but head coach Craig Bohl says NDSU’s not reloading.  97636   :15   “at that point”.
   A key focal point for the opposition will be defensive back Marcus Williams:  97637   :26   “of a game”.
   NDSU led the nation in kickoff return yardage – Bohl, who sits on the NCAA rules committee, was asked what impact changes in kickoff rules might have.  97638   :30   “the hang time”.
   Bohl says changes were implemented to prevent concussions, and to preserve one of the more exciting plays in football.
