SHERMAN, S.D. (AP) - A fire in the eastern South Dakota town of Sherman destroyed a van and
a mobile home being used for storage.
Firefighters had to deal with a series of small explosions when ammunition inside the van went
off.
The fire early Sunday started in the van and spread to the home, which was not being lived in.
Jeanette Smit owned the mobile home and said she had just bought the van at an auction on
Saturday and hadn't had time to remove the ammunition left by the previous owner.
The cause of the fire wasn't immediately determined. Sherman is located southeast of Dell
Rapids.
