Taser used on Brookings woman; it has no effect

Brookings police use a Taser on an uncooperative woman and it
has no effect.

Lt. Derrick Powers says they were called to Danny's Lounge just after
10:00 o'clock Saturday night because a female employee had been 
assaulted by another woman.

When police arrived, then woman was being restrained outside by
a male employee.  The woman refused to cooperate with police and 
put up a struggle.  She was warned that a Taser would be used, but 
she continued to resist. The device was used and it had no effect on 
the woman. 

She continued to struggle but police were evenutally able to get her
handcuffed.

The 34-year-old Brookings woman is charged with simple assault 
and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

The 22-year-old victim had some swelling and bruising and refused 
medical treatment.
