There will be a Brookings City Council Election as Nick Wendell files

There will be an election for Brookings City Council this year.
Incumbent Nick Wendell has filed to seek reelection. He joins fellow incumbent Wayne Avery and first-time candidate Al Austreim, both of whom filed earlier. There are are two, three-year seats available.
Incumbent Mayor Ope Niemeyer has also filed for reelection. No one has yet filed to challenge Niemeyer.
On the School Board side, the two incumbents have filed to seek reelection. Both Debra DeBates and Keli L. Books have turned in their petitions.
The School and City Election is set for April 9th.
Today at 5:00 pm is the deadline to file.
