Woonsocket woman killed in motorcycle/semi accident

A 22-year-old Woonsocket woman is killed in a motorcycle crash east of Mitchell
Saturday evening on South Dakota Highway 38.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Jordan Dawn Hanson was a passenger
riding on the eastbound motorcycle. It was being driven by 19-year-old Sean Baas
of Alexandria.

Baas was slowing the motorcycle down to make a right hand turn, but lost control
and slid in front of a semi truck driven by 62-year-old David Lee Vanzee of Huron.
The northbound semi-truck was coming to a stop at a stop sign.

Hanson was thrown from the motorcycle and slid under the driver's side front tires
of the semi-trailer. She sustained fatal injuries.

Baas was also thrown from the motorcycle and received serious but non-life
threatening injuries. Both were wearing helmets. Vanzee was not injured.
