Dakota Dunes Streets Reopened

DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. (AP) - The streets of Dakota Dunes have been
reopened to traffic but residents are still being urged to leave.
The southeast South Dakota city is threatened by Missouri River
flooding, and Gov. Dennis Daugaard has urged the 2,500 residents to
leave by Thursday night. The exodus came to a standstill Wednesday
afternoon when streets were closed to everyone but levee
construction crews. State officials say public access was restored
about 7 p.m. Wednesday after "significant" progress was made on
levees.
Daugaard says residents still should prepare for the worst. Resident
Greg Parham is heeding that call. when roads were reopened he
immediately took advantage, moving in trucks and trailers to move possessions out.
