The Brookings County Sheriff's Department is investigating
a stolen vehicle case that appears to have started with a
burning car.

The Sheriff's Department, along with the White Fire
Department and White First Responders, were called to a
car fire at about 2:46 Friday morning south of Toronto
on 476th street.

They arrived to find a 1999 Cadillac on fire. It was a complete
loss and the driver was not at the scene. A pickup truck
was later reported stolen from a residence about a mile
away.

Search dogs were brought to the scene to look for the
driver of the burned car. The dogs led to the site of the
stolen pickup.

The pickup was found in Brookings and the suspect was
later located in Brookings and taken into custody.

20-year-old Dakota Larsen of Toronto is charged
with grand theft, criminal entry of a motor vehicle and
underage consumption.
