State's Economy Grows

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Officials say South Dakota's gross domestic
product increased by 4.2 percent in 2010 to $39.8 billion.
The numbers from the U.S. Department of Commerce are a
measurement of state productivity by the value of goods and
services produced.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard said in a statement Wednesday that the
state has not experienced the sharp declines in GDP seen in other
states the past three years. He said South Dakota has the third
highest percentage increase during that recessionary period and
continues to exceed the national average.
