Sioux Falls Events Center to Arena Site

     SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - If a new events center is built in
South Dakota's largest city it will not be downtown.
     The Sioux Falls City Council voted 5-4 to build the proposed
center next to the existing Arena and Convention Center northwest
of downtown. Mayor Mike Huether cast the tie-breaking vote after
midnight Monday, following more than two hours of testimony from
people who packed the chamber.
     City residents ultimately will decide whether the $100 million
events center is built. A vote could come in November.
