Brookings firefighters battle a morning blaze at Daktronics,
Incorporated.
Deputy Fire Chief Pete Bolzer says they were called out at
about 5:30 this morning to a fire in Building Two at Daktronics.
On arrival they found a rooftop heating and cooling unit on fire.
It was extinguished, however the unit was destroyed. The fire
got into the roofing but was confined to that area.
The fire began in the unit but the exact cause is not known.
Bolzer says it was a tough fire to battle because it was in
a difficult place to get to.
He says a dollar estimate is not yet available but there was
damage to some computers and production equipment as
well as the roof and the heating and cooling unit.
There were no injuries. Firefighters were at the scene for
more than 3 hours.
