PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics says
South Dakota's preliminary unemployment rate for May was 4.8
percent, down just one-tenth of a percent from April and unchanged
over the year.
South Dakota's unemployment rate has shown little change over
the past year, but Labor and Regulation Secretary Pam Roberts says
the state's economy continues to rebound. She says the number of
employed workers in the labor force increased by 5,200 over the
year.
Nationally, the unemployment rate in May increased to 9.1
percent from April's 9 percent.
