An International Legislators Forum is underway in Brookings.
It began yesterday and runs through tomorrow.
District 4 Representative and Speaker of the House, Val
Rausch of Big Stone City, is co-host of the 11th annual
forum and says that they're a pretty unique organization
that is trying to open up communication on regional problems
and concerns.
Some 32 state legislators are taking part -- 8 each from
Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Manitoba.
Rausch says innovation and energy are key topics this
year, the main focus the last couple years has been water issues.
Past forums have led to the development of a two-nation
vacation package and cooperation on ag and energy issues.
Rausch has taken part the past 3 years and says the
forums also lead to valuable contacts.
He says they'll take a tour of the nearby wind farms, may
get a look at the Deer Creek Station Power Plant and will
have events at SDSU and the Innovation Campus.
