DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. (AP) - Officials in the Dakota Dunes area say
the main levees have been holding up well, but they're monitoring
the impact of recent heavy rains on Missouri River levels.
Capt. Kevin Joffer, the incident commander for southeast South
Dakota, says rain has created a tenuous situation with saturated
soil, flooded streets and additional standing water.
He says homeowners and contractors in the Dunes holding access
badges will be able to enter the levee protected area from 10 a.m.
to 8 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
But he says that access could be curtailed if the safety of
homeowners or operation personnel is threatened.
