2 Killed in SD Road Washout Identified



     RELIANCE, S.D. (AP) - Authorities have identified the two South
Dakota women who died when their vehicles drove into a road washout
that was caused by heavy rainfall.
     The Highway Patrol says 56-year-old Gwen Michalek of Chamberlain
and 61-year-old Ellen Wright of Lower Brule died Tuesday after
driving into the washout on a road about 10 miles north of Reliance
and being carried away in rushing water.
     Michalek was found in her vehicle about 100 yards away from the
crash site. Wright was found about four miles away.
