The weather the past couple months has been
harsh and wet causing flooding, property
damage and crop concerns.

Doctor Dennis Todey is the State and
Extension Climatologist for South Dakota. He says
this is one of our wettest periods in recent history.

Todey says this is the highest record rainfall
this early in the year since 1984. He says so far
we've had 15.7 inches precipitation, which is the 3rd
highest total on record for this time of year.

He says the outlook for the summer looks to
be cool temperatures, but this upcoming week could
be warm which will be good news for farmers.

Todey says there is a tendency when you're in a wet
period to stay in a wet period.
