No Action on Liquor Licenses

The Brookings City Council takes no action on awarding liquor
operating agreements. Instead, they will ask each of the four
applicants for further credit information.

That announcement came after the council met in executive
session for 45 minutes last night.

There are three new licenses available. The four applicants
are the Shamrock, Main Street Pub, The Brownstone Restaurant
and Bar, and Old Market Eatery.

City Attorney Steve Britzman recommended the additional step to
seek additional credit information from each of the applicants in order
to evaluate the decision to issue operating agreements.

He says it won't require a great deal of paper work for the applicants.

The vote was 5-1 to request further info. Tom Bezdicek
voted no and Jael Thorpe has removed herself from all
discussion and voting on the topic because she is co-owner
of Old Market Eatery.

The three new licenses became available because of the
increase in population in the 2010 U.S. Census.
