DE SMET, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota high school student accused
of making threats on Facebook pleaded guilty on Wednesday to
misdemeanor charges.
Eighteen-year-old Melissa Kruger of De Smet pleaded guilty to simple
assault and making online threats. Prosecutors dropped a felony count of
making terroristic threats.
Court documents say Kruger used an alias early this year to post
threats on a Facebook page, talking about bringing a shotgun to
school. They also say she later told an investigator that she made
the threats because she was depressed and bored.
Kruger faces up to two years in jail and $4,000 in fines when she is
sentenced on Aug. 3.
