Chamberlin-Oacoma Residents Fight Floodwaters

CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. (AP) - Residents of Chamberlain and Oacoma
continue to fill sandbags as the Missouri River continues to rise
between the South Dakota cities.
The Fort Randall Dam reservoir downstream is at a record level,
leading to the high water in the Chamberlain-Oacoma area. The Army
Corps of Engineers says the reservoir could begin falling Sunday.
But Jody Farhat with the corps says residents in the two cities can
expect the river to rise another 4 inches by then.
Floodwaters already have swamped a Chamberlain campground. A
resort on the Oacoma side of the river is still open but has lost
some camp sites to floodwaters.
