SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls man accused of harassing
young females for decades has been sentenced to serve 25 years in
the state penitentiary for molesting a girl.
Sixty-six-year-old Vern Hennings pleaded guilty to three counts
of sexual contact with a minor. Authorities say he repeatedly
abused an 8-year-old acquaintance when she stayed at his house
while her mother was working.
Prosecutors dropped 16 counts of solicitation of a minor and
several counts of rape in the plea agreement.
Hennings was arrested in January for making lewd gestures to
girls from his car. Court documents indicated Hennings told
investigators that he had engaged in similar behavior for 20 years.
