FORT McCOY, Wis. (AP) - The South Dakota Army National Guard has
sent a 187-member unit to Afghanistan.
The 200th Engineer Company left the base at Fort McCoy, Wis.
Thursday for a one-year deployment.
The Guard says the unit specializes in building temporary and
permanent bridges. The unit provides equipment to build, maintain
and take down crossings over rivers and dry land gaps.
The unit is based in Pierre with detachments in Mobridge and
Chamberlain.
