BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A monthly analysis by shows that economic stress remains low in the Dakotas.
North Dakota's economy is being fueled by a booming oil industry and by good agriculture markets. The state has been the least stressed since the recession began in December 2007.
In May, Nebraska and South Dakota followed on the list of least-stressed states. Nevada had the nation's highest level of stress.
The list of 20 least economically stressed counties included the North Dakota counties of Ward, Burleigh, Morton, Cass and Grand Forks, and the South Dakota counties of Brown and Brookings. Brookings County is 13th, Brown is 11th.
