SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A man accused of killing a Sioux Falls
hospice nurse in her home so he could steal her car and drive to
Washington, D.C., to kill President Barack Obama appeared in court
Tuesday afternoon.
Forty-one-year-old James McVay appeared in a Minnehaha County
courtroom and answered yes when asked if he understood the charges
against him.
Last week, a grand jury indicted him on murder and burglary
charges for the July 2 murder of 75-year-old Maybelle Schein.
Police allege that McVay stabbed to death Schein and then stole
her car as part of a scheme to drive to the nation's capital and
kill the president. He was arrested later the same day in
Wisconsin.
His trial has been set for Oct. 11.
