RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - About 300 airmen from Ellsworth Air
Force Base have returned from a six-month deployment in southwest
Asia.
The airmen returned to the base Wednesday night.
The group consisted of aircrews, maintenance crews and support
personnel for the base's B1-B bombers. The military says the
members of the 34th Bomb Squadron helped provide security for
troops on the ground in Afghanistan.
Col. Steven Hiss says the group led a successful deployment that
launched more than 600 attacks. He says only one air mission had to
abort due to a mechanical malfunction.
