SD Dam Needs Repair

BRITTON, S.D. (AP) - Officials are using pumps to lower the
level of White Lake in northeast South Dakota so repairs can be
made to a damaged dam.
The state Game, Fish and Parks Department says a chunk of
concrete fell from the spillway at the dam northeast of Britton
after recent heavy rains. Officials need to wait until water quits
going over the spillway before they can begin repairs to ensure the
dam doesn't suffer any more damage.
Engineer Jeffrey Peters says there is no immediate concern about
the structural integrity of the spillway.
