A Brookings woman is taken to the hospital and then to jail
after inhaling the fumes from a can of a compressed-air
cleaner in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Brookings Police were called to the scene shortly before
6 o'clock Tuesday evening.

Police arrived and saw the 23-year-old woman, still in her
car and inhaling fumes. When she saw the officers, she
locked her doors and took one more hit.

The woman passed out and police had to break a window
in order to get her out. She was taken by ambulance to
the Brookings Hospital where she was treated and
released.

She was then arrested and taken to jail on charges of
driving under the influence and ingesting a toxic substance.
