Guard Activation



     RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Army National Guard is
holding an activation ceremony in Rapid City Friday for a
nine-person aviation detachment.
     The members of Detachment 48, Operational Support Airlift
Command will be activated for a year-long deployment in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
     Detachment 48 is a fixed-wing aviation unit of pilots and
operations specialists who transport personnel, cargo and
life-saving medical supplies.
     The ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. Mountain at the Army
Aviation Support Facility near Rapid City Regional Airport. The
public is welcome to attend.
