Police Officer Funeral is Sunday

     RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The funeral for a Rapid City police
officer shot and killed in the line of duty is Sunday.
     Police say the ceremony for 28-year-old James Ryan McCandless is
2 p.m. Sunday in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center's Barnett Arena.
McCandless will be buried in his hometown of Midland, Mich.
     On Saturday afternoon there will be a public procession from
Kirk Funeral Home to the Civic Center, along with a public viewing
at Barnett Arena.
     Gov. Dennis Daugaard asks that all flags in the state be flown
at half-staff on Sunday.
     McCandless was one of three officers shot while performing what
authorities have described as a routine stop on Tuesday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Officer Nick Armstrong and 39-year-old
Officer Tim Doyle remain hospitalized. The alleged shooter was shot
by police and died Wednesday.
