Morrell Fire

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Fire caused heavy damage to a building
at the John Morrell meatpacking plant complex in Sioux Falls and
prompted the evacuation of dozens of workers.
No one was hurt in the Friday blaze that authorities say took 12
fire trucks and 54 firefighters from four departments to bring
under control. The plant was shut down for more than five hours.
The fire started in the buidling's box shop, which houses
pallets of cardboard boxes and other supplies. The flames were
contained to the third floor of the building, but the rest of the
building and adjoining buildings suffered smoke damage.
The cause of the fire wasn't immediately determined. A damage
estimate also was not immediately available.
