SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Court records show that former South Dakota governor and congressman Bill Janklow has received five traffic citations since 2007, including four for speeding, the latest coming in June.
The other citation was for clipping a car with a horse trailer in a Sioux Falls parking lot. Two citations for not having proof of insurance were later dismissed.
Janklow has a history of speeding tickets and other traffic violations. He resigned from Congress after killing a motorcyclist in a 2003 accident near Flandreau. A jury convicted him of second-degree manslaughter and he was sentenced to 100 days in jail and fined $5,000.
Janklow's driving prohibition ended in 2007. He told The Associated Press this week that he still drives fast sometimes but always pays his fines when he's caught.
